The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado is On The Way with Some Impressive Upgrades

This was most definitely a year that saw many upgrades and announcements, all of which are getting us excited here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis. First on the list for the coming fall season was the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, aggressively-stanced and announced with a fresh lineup of changes. It rang in the addition of the brand-new Multiflex Tailgate and new turbo 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, higher payload capacity and improved ease-of-use are both on the table.

The 2020 Chevy Silverado Regular cab featured the naturally aspirated 4.3 Liter LV3 V6, which cranks out 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque, as well as the naturally-aspirated 5.3-liter L82 V8 engine with Active Fuel Management, producing 355 horsepower and 373 lb-ft of torque. The 2021 Regular Cab Long Box model with this 2.7-liter L3B engine connected to RWD boasts a payload rating of 2,280 pounds, compared to the 2,250-pound rating seen in the 2020 model year. This same model now sees a boost in towing capacity up to 9,600 pounds. When put to the test and scrutinized, the 2.7-L turbo was ahead of the curve on cooling performance. It displayed the ability to simmer things down properly when they reach upper levels.

The Multi-Flex Tailgate offers six different positions tailored to take on a variety of different jobs, offering easier access to the bed, better ways to load, and a workstation to drink in the great outdoors via laptop or provide tailgate party entertainment. Built firmly on the legacy of the hardest-working and most resilient truck out there, this well-balanced inline-six configuration offers advanced features like stop-start technology and the Hyrda-Matic 10-speed transmission with shorter gears for prime efficiency.

With a muscular and bold appearance, the Silverado has always had the energy for the job site backed by strong purpose, and will provide anyone from a contractor to a ranch hand or site builder the reliable confidence they need to efficiently get the job done. Other convenient features such as the enhanced CornerStep rear bumper offer firm and trusty support to the “hardest-working bed in the business.”

The roll-formed steel floor provides strength for the lightest yet strongest Silverado bed ever, and 12 standard and 9 available accessory tie-downs give you multiple choices for assuring cargo safety.
