Keep It Simple: The First Looks at the New 2016 Silverado

Less chrome, streamlined grille design offer Chevrolet fans glimpse at newest edition pickup

With Chevrolet Silverado sales steamrolling, it only seems apt that Chevrolet would reveal its first official picture of the 2016 Silverado. Only the front fascia has been revealed so far, but from the photo we do know that it is a 1500 LTZ Z71 model. The sample truck shows off a few new details for the new model year. According to GM, the 2016 Chevy Silverado is expected to hit dealers such as Jim Butler Chevrolet this fall.

Chrome was reduced on the exterior design for 2016, but this only adds to the Silverado’s retro feel. The facelift involves a single-headlight design combined with twin LED running lamps.

The hood gives the new Silverado an even more aggressive look, playing off the strong and aggressive stance Chevrolet trucks are taking in the marketplace right now. Along with the muscular hood, the bumper gets a modern upgrade with what appears to be vertical LED foglights.

“New front end designs with bold horizontal elements, sculpted hoods and dramatic lighting reflect the strength and refinement that have helped make Silverado the fastest growing full-size pickup brand this year,” Marketing Director for Chevy Trucks Sandor Piszar said.

In regards to the powertrain, the eight-speed automatic transmission will see a broader application. The only technology information divulged thus far is an updated Chevy MyLink system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay — confirming Chevy’s goal to add Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in nearly all of its 2016 models — and “additional safety technologies.”
