Silverado HDs Show Trends of Lasting More than 200K Miles
Chevrolet heavy-duty pickup trucks tops list of vehicles that last at least 200,000 miles
For durability and longevity, the Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty tops the charts according to iSeeCars.com and AutoBlog. The highest percentage of vehicles with 200,000 miles on the odometer was compiled by these two sites, and the top dog was the Silverado HD.
It is noted that the vehicles in the study were model years 1981-2010 as Americans put an average of 13,476 miles on their cars, trucks and SUVs each year. Future results of current model years can’t be guaranteed, but the Silverado HD’s results are definitely encouraging for St. Louis-area truck fans.
Diesel engines play a big role in the longevity of heavy duty pickup trucks, and the Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel engine mated with an Allison transmission is one of the tops in the segment. The Duramax powers up for 397 horsepower and 765 lb.-ft. of torque.
The other engine option for ’15 Silverado HDs is the gas-powered Vortec 6.0-L V8. The Vortec offers up a maximum towing capacity of up to 23,200 pounds and a max payload of 7,180.
Other Chevrolet vehicles making the list include the Tahoe and the Suburban, the latter of which tied with the Silverado HD. Jim Butler Chevrolet is your home for Silverado HDs and the No. 1 Chevy dealer in Missouri!
